Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson born to British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby & Chris Watson in Paris, France. When she moved to Oxfordshire at the age of five, Emma attended The Dragon School. Emma was inspired to be an actor at age six. Through the years she was a student at the Oxford branch Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. The school taught her singing as well as dancing, and also acting. By the age of ten she had performed and taken part in a variety of Stagecoach productions as well as school plays. The casting process began in 1999 with the casting process for Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the movie adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Casting agents found Emma through her Oxford theater teacher. After a string of auditions for eight consecutive times, director David Heyman told Emma and co-applicants Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint they were cast for the roles of the three main characters Hermione Granger Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. The debut of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's film debut. It was also the most popular film of 2001. Opening weekday and weekend sales were record-breaking. The film has been praised by critics for its film as well as the performance of the three principal young actors. The Daily Telegraph, a well-read British newspaper, was awed by her for her impressive performance. Emma won the Young Artist Award as the Leading Young Actress for part of a feature Film. Later, she was recognized five times in recognition of her work in the film.
